(Alabama song) Show me the way to the next whiskey bar

Reclining on the bluffs overlooking the Tennessee river in Alabama. At a huge house that is all ours (thank you Air BnB) in which many musicians stayed when recording at Fame and Muscle Shoals studios.

We are sleeping in the actual room that Bob slept in.  We are very happy!

This evening these fellas joined us

And this is view from window

Last night at French Camp we watched fireflies with the cicada orchestra. (Sound only).

Then, as it was lights out for Jesus at 10.30, we flicked through the real estate mags and couldn't believe what you could get for your money in some places, until Lou looked up the demographics to discover areas with 38% of households living below the poverty line, one area with the median income at $20,000 and one area where the postman delivers food parcels with the post.

French Camp is a bit Stepford Wives. It was white and smiley, but the literature dotted about was railing against the loss of Christian rights now that the liberals were allowing the homosexual agenda to dominate. The boarding school saved troubled kids from poor and single parent families and all in all we were glad to leave. And before anyone shouts at us for  giving them our money, it was the only place to stay in the area.

We drove further along the parkway today,

through the area hit by tornado in 2011, up to the highest point in the Mississippi
accompanied by eagles, to some Native American burial mounds
where the air was thick with the scent of pine and wild honeysuckle. We
then drove on up to Muscle Shoals.

Lou kept insisting she could see tortoises by the road, finally she was proven sane, as there was one right in the road. Denis drove over it. Lou laughed hysterically, Denis was distraught.

So as we have written this, the sun has set over the river

And we are watching the fireflies emerge again, with a glass of wine from the local vineyard and popcorn from our extensive welcome hamper.

It's snowing in Duluth. Let's hope that changes in the next week!

Awesome: View down the Tennessee and the vast amount of squirrels leaping around the neighbourhood.
Banjo: I want to buy some Such please
Oh, and according to a very large sign on someone's lawn: 'ISIS IS AS EVIL AS VULCAN'
Diner: Meatloaf, fried green tomatoes, choc chip cookie
Co-pilot: Denis was convinced a murderous lone biker was stalking us and had to pull over, Lou had a mild meltdown at a left turn on a 6 lane road. Joint hysteria drops both to 5.
Mozzies: Lou has a neck worthy of a Hammer horror film.
